Teresa Neumann (February 23, 2010) Police chief announces he is "convinced that faith and prayer have had a positive impact on policing in Barnstaple." (United Kingdom)—About three years ago, battling some of the lowest crime-detection rates in the Barnstaple area, UK Inspector Roger Bartlett asked churchgoers to pray for God to help policemen and to lower crime in their community. (Photo: SWNS) Now, as reported in The Daily Mail, "detection rates have soared, road accidents have fallen and Mr. Bartlett is convinced it is evidence of divine intervention...Every quarter, the number of crimes solved has risen, so that at its current figure—more than 40 percent—it is one of the highest in the country."
Bartlett, one of the leaders of the Christian Policing Team in his area, also reportedly asked worshippers to pray for a reduction in the number of serious or fatal road accidents—and they fell from 97 in 2007/8 to 32 in 2008/9.
